Dr. Barbara Rogoff is a psychology professor who studies the cultural aspects of learning and collaboration among children.
And the first confirmed speaker? It’s Dr. David Haussler, known for his work leading the team that assembled the first human genome sequence in the race to complete the Human Genome Project.

More than 25 speakers will take the stage on September 15, 2012 as part of TEDxSantaCruz, offering ideas and insight in talks addressing the theme: “Open.” Organizers have curated a day of talks featuring locally and nationally renowned speakers including John Perry Barlow, Donnie Fowler, Danny Keith, Martha Mendoza, Nina Simon and Whitney Smith.
